Cat & Mouse By James Patterson Pages 152-189

This section of the book concludes Part two of this book. At the start of this section Alex Cross is with Detective Groza investigating the death of Detective Manning Goldman. Detective Groza says that Goldman had come from a wealthy family, with the dad as a doctor, and two brothers are dentists. In the house we find out that the computer inside of Goldman's house was recently used, perhaps by Gary Soneji. Alex Cross thinks that Gary would have used the computer to help find Shareef Thomas. After Groza and Cross investigate the house, Alex calls Christine and she tells him that she will be in New York soon. Then Alex and Carmine Groza rush across town to try and pickup Shareef Thomas at his crackhouse before Gary gets there and kills Shareef. When the two detectives arrived at Shareef's place, they were watching the crackhouse for a good two hours. Finally Alex walked into the crackhouse, but it took a little bit to pick out Shareef from the crowd in the dark and dingy room. Then Carmine burst into the room with two other police officers, and that is when Shareef rose up holding a shotgun. Shareef then fired his shotgun into the three New York Police officers, and then Alex shot Shareef with his glock one in his right shoulder and the other shot went under his chin. After Alex killed Shareef he had realized that he had just killed his connection to Gary Soneji. When all of the firing stopped they also realized that Shareef had killed one of the police officers. Then at seven at that same night Alex went to Penn Station to pick up Christine coming to New York from D.C.. After Alex picked her up they went on a date to the MGM musical. After the date this section of the book had just ended.

This section of the book was a little bit slower paced. Although it was better because it took a break from all of the blood and violence from the previous sections. I thought that this ending to part two of they book left me hanging, and not knowing what to expect from Gary Soneji. Like how Gary was able to get inside of Detective Goldman's house and murder him while he was asleep. Also I do not think that Alex knows what Gary will do next.
